The Park Place Apartments in Walnut Creek, California, hold a deep historical significance that might surprise many. While today it is a thriving residential area housing families and individuals, it once served as the site of a World War II concentration camp, reflecting a dark chapter in American history. The Origins of Park Place Apartments
Originally constructed in the late 1930s, Park Place Apartments in Walnut Creek were designed as an upscale housing complex, boasting breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty. However, at the onset of World War II, the complex underwent a drastic transformation when it was converted into a temporary internment camp.
The Transformation into a Concentration Camp

The formerly luxurious apartments were converted into cramped living spaces, stripped of basic amenities and privacy. Families were forced to leave their homes and belongings behind, subjected to arbitrary incarceration solely because of their heritage.
The Lives Affected
Over 700 individuals of Japanese ancestry, including men, women, and children, were forcibly relocated to Park Place Apartments. These individuals were uprooted from their lives on the West Coast and confined to this camp, facing emotional distress and loss. Families were torn apart, livelihoods disrupted, and dreams shattered as they were unjustly labeled as enemies of the state.
Despite the adversity they faced, the people interned at Park Place Apartments demonstrated resilience and strength amidst challenging circumstances. They formed a tight-knit community, supporting each other through artistic expression, education, and cultural preservation.

Today, the Park Place Apartments have been restored to their original purpose as a residential complex. While the complex may have undergone changes, the echoes of its dark past are still present, urging us to confront the consequences of wartime hysteria and prejudice.
Preserving the Legacy
Efforts are being made to preserve the memory of Park Place Apartments concentration camp and honor the perseverance of those interned there. Historical markers, exhibitions, and educational programs are being developed to ensure this part of history is not forgotten.
We owe it to those affected by the injustices of the past to keep their stories alive. Through education and remembrance, we can create a society that is more empathetic, inclusive, and just, ensuring that no one is subjected to such prejudice again.

Exposed in this pamphlet is the sordid saga of Park Place Apartments, aka Walnut Creek's Concentration Camp, whose imperious management reacted with retaliatory eviction against respectable tenants, boasting an impeccable three-year tenancy, who dared to make not one but three legitimate complaints against a belligerent Gestapo guard, aka Joel, employed by OTS Group Private Security of Antioch, California, who not only accosted the tenants in a confrontational manner on three separate occasions, but also followed and stalked the tenants both on and off the apartment property. Response by the do-nothing, good-for-nothing Walnut Creek Police Department was as indifferent and negligent as the arrogant apartment management's. This pamphlet serves as an object lesson to the corrupt, shyster management about the costly price to be paid for bad faith and unfair dealing in reputable landlord-tenant relations.
